Objectives

This study seeks to:

  1. Develop an operational definition of Socially Guarded Cognition.
  2. Differentiate productive deliberative processing from maladaptive rumination.
  3. Examine similarities and differences between SGC and existing psychological constructs.
  4. Investigate common patterns of social misunderstanding associated with SGC.
  5. Develop practical interventions that improve communication and quality of life.
  6. Propose a preliminary conceptual framework for future empirical study.
